Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This policy covers the Bunker Hill PTO Portal, operated by Bunker Hill Elementary School PTO ("the PTO", "we", "us"), a volunteer-run, non-profit parent-teacher organization supporting Bunker Hill Elementary School, located at 6620 Shelbyville Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46237. 2. Information we collect

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and (optionally) phone number. You may also add your children's names and grades, a profile photo, and — if you're a board member — a bio shown on the public "Meet the Board" page. We also store the messages, task notes, and survey answers you submit through the Portal, and basic error logs to help us diagnose problems. Event volunteers who are not account holders provide their name and phone number (and optionally an email address) on a volunteer sign-up form.

3. How we use it

We use this information to run the Portal: to identify you, show you the events, tasks, and messages relevant to you, respond to messages you send us, and — only for the notification types and channels you specifically turn on — send you email, SMS, or push notifications.

4. SMS / text messaging

SMS notifications are entirely opt-in. Nothing is texted to you unless you explicitly turn on a specific notification — under Profile → Notifications if you have an account, or by checking the text-reminder box on an event volunteer sign-up form. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, or (for account holders) by turning the notification off under Profile → Notifications.

Message frequency depends on which notifications you enable and how active the PTO is — typically a handful of texts per month at most. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help.

We use Twilio solely to transmit the messages you have asked us to send. Twilio processes your phone number only to deliver those messages on our behalf and for no other purpose.

5. Service providers

We do not sell your information or share it for advertising. We rely on a small number of service providers to operate the Portal, each of which only processes your data to deliver its specific service: Supabase (hosting, authentication, and database), Resend (email delivery), and Twilio (SMS delivery). Listing yourself and your children in the Parent Directory is optional and, if enabled, visible only to other approved Portal members — never to the public.

6. Children's information

Children's names and grades are entered by a parent or guardian for internal roster and directory purposes only. We don't collect information directly from children, and this information is never publicly accessible.

7. Data retention and security

Your data is stored with row-level security so that members can only access what their role permits, and all traffic to the Portal is encrypted in transit. We retain your information for as long as your account is active.

8. Your choices

You can update or remove most of your information anytime from your Profile page, including your directory listing and every notification channel. To request deletion of your account entirely, email board@bunkerhillpto.org.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; continued use of the Portal after a change means you accept the update.
